Subject: Website reset and request for quote — Rough Print Textiles
Dear JB
I hope you’re well. I wanted to write to you properly about the website and the direction I’m taking the studio in.
After a lot of consideration, I’ve decided to pause and discontinue the current website. While it has served its purpose, it no longer reflects the direction the business is moving in, and it has also become more work to maintain than is useful at this stage.
I am in the process of repositioning and renaming the studio as Rough Print Textiles, moving away from a founder-name website toward a studio-led identity that foregrounds process, material, and surface. The intention is to present the work as hand screen-printed fabric for contemporary interiors, rather than as a broad retail or product-heavy site.
As a first step, I would like to create a new, very pared-back website — essentially a strong, calm landing page that clearly communicates the new direction. From there, the site can be developed further over time into a fuller website.
The initial brief would be for:
a single, carefully designed page (homepage)
calm, restrained layout with generous spacing
minimal navigation
emphasis on fabric imagery, texture, and surface
no product grids or e-commerce at this stage
a contemporary, architectural feel that is warm and material-led rather than graphic or decorative
typography-led (we are standardising on Canela)
easy to expand later into additional pages (process, collections, studio, contact)
I would like to ask you to quote on this new way forward, both for:
the initial one-page site / landing page, and
an indication of what it would cost to develop this into a fuller site at a later stage.
I’m not in a rush to build something complex — clarity, restraint, and longevity are more important than scale right now.
Please let me know if this is something you’d be interested in taking on, and if so, what information you’d need from me to prepare a quote.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Best regards,
Carole
